And another case of Sarah Palin derangement syndrome has reared its ugly head. In Vanity Fair’s August 2009 issue, Todd Purdum writes in a piece entitled, “It Came From Wasilla”: “What does it say about the nature of modern American politics that a public official who often seems proud of what she does not know is not only accepted but applauded?” Purdum quotes an anonymous friend of presidential nominee John McCain as referring to Palin as “little shop of horrors.”
He writes that on the campaign trail aides “worried about her mental state: Was it possible that she was experiencing postpartum depression?” And that, “no political principle or personal relationship is more sacred than her own ambition.”
Blogger Tom Bevan at Real Clear Politics calls it a hit piece: “Complete with a slew of juicy, negative quotes from insiders and a smoothly crafted narrative that demeans and diminishes Palin’s accomplishments.”
And Alex Koppelman of the liberal Salon.com Web site calls it “devastatingly critical… Todd Purdum paints Palin as a narcissistic egomaniac unable to take the advice of others.”

Today’s Rasmussen reports presidential tracking poll shows that 31 percent of voters surveyed strongly approve of the job president Obama is doing. But 33 percent strongly disapprove. That means the president’s approval index rating has fallen below zero for the third time in 10 days.
The approval index is calculated by subtracting the number of people who strongly disapprove — from the number who strongly approve. It currently stands at negative two. That matches President Obama’s lowest rating since taking office, which was recorded on June 21. Before that, the index had never dropped below zero.

By Dick Morris
Only the Senate and House Republicans can save Obama now by compromising and lending his extremist legislation the veneer of bipartisanship in order to remove it as a political issue.
If the likes of GOP Sens. Olympia Snowe (Maine), Susan Collins (Maine), Chuck Grassley (Iowa), Orrin Hatch (Utah) and others refuse to go along with Obama on healthcare and on cap-and-trade, they will force him to pass both programs as one-party bills. Not only is it possible that as public support runs out on these measures he will fail even to get 50 votes to pass them, but it is likely that even if they go through, they doom his administration to perpetual unpopularity.
Obama is, quite simply, stuck with these programs as a result of his campaign promises. But they will become larger and larger burdens to carry as their unpopularity increases.

“Tools of mass communication that were once the province of governments and corporations now fit in your pocket. Cell phones can capture video and send it wirelessly to the Internet. People can send eyewitness accounts, photos and videos, with a few keystrokes, to thousands or even millions via social networking sites. As these technologies have developed, so too has the ability to monitor, filter, censor and block them….

New York just passed a 12.62% RETROACTIVE tax. In a 907 page bill, education and family assistance. In New York the combination of new state taxes plus new city taxes result in a top tax rate of 12.62%. That is above California’s brand new higher tax of 10.55%.
Remember that 12.62% just state and local, that doesn’t count your federal which is going up to 40% under Obama at least. So you are paying between, once you finish with all of your taxes, your real estate, your car, your drivers, you know, your license plate, your sales tax, consumption tax, gas tax, everything else, the rich are paying about 70% of their income.

We’re bailing out states. California is had to start issuing IOU’s. I don’t know about you, but I think they’re good for it.
Now New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Massachusetts, Indiana, Arizona. States on the edge. Arizona may fold tomorrow. Indiana’s not far behind. New Jersey, well, New Jersey, they are turning things around because they have Operation Porchlight. I have to ask myself why didn’t we think of this before? This could save America.
New Jersey and Operation Porchlight, their motto is “Change within reach” catchy right? Well their plan to save America is, are you ready for it? Wait for it, “Change a bulb and save!”

One of the world’s leading polar bear experts has been told to stay away from an international conference on the animals because his views are “extremely unhelpful,” according to an e-mail by the chairman of the Polar Bear Specialist Group, Dr. Andy Derocher.
The London Telegraph reports Canadian biologist Mitchell Taylor has more than 30 years of experience with polar bears. But his belief that global warming is caused by nature, not man, led officials to bar him from this week’s polar bear specialist group meeting in Denmark.
Taylor says the polar bear population has actually increased over the last 30 years. He says the threat to them by melting Arctic ice — illustrated by a famous photo taken by photographer Amanda Byrd — has become the most iconic cause for global warming theorists. The photo is often used by former Vice President Al Gore and others as an example of the dangers faced by the bears. But it was debunked last year by the photographer, who says the picture had nothing to do with global warming, and that the bears were not in danger. The photographer said she just happened to catch the bears on a small windswept iceberg.

A Florida school district has reversed two decisions concerning a Christian club and private baccalaureate services.
Last year, the American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit against the Santa Rosa County School District for allowing the Fellowship of Christian Athletes to meet on campus and for allowing teachers to attend private baccalaureate services. David Cortman, senior legal counsel with the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), explains that the school initially capitulated to the ACLU’s demands.
“We’ve all heard of those [situations], now that it’s graduation time, where private organizations — [in this case a local] ministerial association — rents out school facilities to hold a private religious graduation service,” says Cortman. “But because of the ACLU’s lawsuit, the school prohibited teachers from participating at all.”
The school also prohibited the Fellowship of Christian Athletes from meeting on campus, but the ADF sent letters to the school district outlining its rights concerning both situations. According to Cortman, the district has since done the “right thing” by standing up to the ACLU’s threats and reversing its decision on both issues.
“[The] ACLU tends to pick on smaller communities throughout the country and basically looks to completely eradicate any mention of religion at all in the public square,” the attorney explains.
“And so we sent these letters to give some push-back to the ACLU to basically tell the school regardless of what they want you to do in their zeal to eliminate all mention of religion, what the law actually requires is that you allow the Christian clubs to meet on the same terms as other clubs.”
Cortman says the ADF also argued that allowing teachers to participate in the private graduation services is no different than a teacher going to church on the weekend.

Pete Chagnon - OneNewsNow
A report has surfaced that the Environmental Protection Agency is suppressing an internal study that undermines the administration’s position on global warming.
As the EPA wraps up its proposed rule-making process that seeks to label carbon dioxide as a pollutant harmful to human life, Sam Kazman of the Competitive Enterprise Institute says the federal agency has suppressed a critical internal report.
“One of their career analysts who’s been there for nearly 40 years did a study criticizing the agency’s approach. His boss told him that study would be kept concealed because it would only shake things up,” he explains. “Namely, the administration had decided what direction to take; namely that carbon dioxide would be regulated, and this report would only cause trouble for the agency and for that office.”
Kazman says his organization was able to examine a draft of the study and basically concluded that in looking at the real-world data, warming has stopped in the last eight years. It added that in the past, ocean cycles have had greater influence on climate change than have carbon dioxide emissions.
He finds it ironic that the Obama administration has pledged to be open and transparent, yet sits on a report such as this.

Friday when most Americans were tuned in to see the latest on the death of Michael Jackson, the House passed the largest tax increase in American History.
The Bill called American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 or H.R. 2454 Passed by recorded vote: 219 - 212 (Roll no. 477).
At 3am Friday a 300 page “amendment” was added to the bill. No house member even read it let alone could even find it. At the time of the vote the clerk was stil inserting the 300 pages so no one had even seen it let alone read it.
But this didn’t stop Minority Leader John Boehner, who under the rules for the vote had unlimited time to speak, decided to start reading the 300-page amendment to a bill already 1200 pages long. Few if any members had read, let alone located, the new bill on which they were voting. Politico described the scene which unfolded:
